The Neo-Bourgeois Scarf Renaissance

Scarves are experiencing a resurgence thanks to modern marketing by the original and iconic scarf master, Hermès, and collaborations between notable leaders of the Old World and New, including silk scarves by Parisian taxidermist Deyrolle for hip downtown store Opening Ceremony. A WSJ article ties this revival to a recession-induced thriftiness to incorporate old accessories and a return to more mature fashion. However, as a twenty-six-year old who coveted my mother's collection of Hermès scarves but found them impossible to pull off at my age, I was only too happy to learn that younger designers were updating and animating the classic accessory. Most recently, I've worn my blue Deyrolle for OC and a black and white Carolina Herrera scarf--both tied in front as a way to enliven a black, chic outfit.
